James Allens Girls School 11 Plus School Admission
(from school website)
All candidates will now sit the Independent Schools' Examination Board (ISEB) Common Pre-test. This consists of online multiple-choice tests in Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning and each test is age-standardised. No preparation is required. ISEB has been running this test for around 7 years and it is used very successfully by many schools in their admissions process. A link to the ISEB Parents’ page can be found here. Candidates with special educational requirements may request extra time and and Educational Psychologist’s report (no older than 3 years old) should be submitted on registering.
- Applicants will sit this at their current school any time from mid-November until early January, but by Wednesday, 14 January at the latest. This is to be determined by each candidate’s school; as the tests are age-standardised there is no disadvantage in pupils sitting them this side of Christmas. Our own Year 6 pupils will be sitting the tests in early December.
- Any candidates who are unable to sit the ISEB at their current school are invited to sit the ISEB Common Pre-test at JAGS on Thursday, 6 January.
