Assessments

Applicants will be assessed on their ability in both Mathematics and English though the papers will be reduced in length. A sample English entrance examination paper can be found here. A sample Mathematics entrance examination paper can be found here. We will also ask pupils to submit a short written piece, selecting from a range of titles and styles. The task will be released on the day itself and should take no longer than 20 minutes to complete.

We will also interview every applicant, which is our chance to get to know a little more about your daughter. We will ask your daughter to speak about something she is proud of and would like to talk about. Interviews last around 15 minutes. In addition, we request a reference from all candidates’ current schools. Pupils from our Prep School follow the same entry procedure as external applicants.

For 2022 entry, the Entrance Examination date is Tuesday 4 January, including applicant interviews. The date will be reviewed in the Autumn term, in light of the local and national outlook, and we may need to bring the examination date forward. The alternative date would be Saturday 27 November. All applicants will be notified of any change in good time.

We are acutely aware of the disruption that has been faced by year 6 pupils this year and want to reassure all parents and pupils that we will take this into consideration when assessing applicants.
